On August 27, Cai Hongbin, Dean of Business School of Hong Kong University, Professor of Economics Lecture, and Director of the China Economic Research Institute, led a delegation to visit the Tonglu site of Global New Material International (06616.HK). The visit included meeting with Su Ertian, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Global New Material International and President of the East China Alumni Association of Business School of Hong Kong University, as well as the company’s management team. The delegation also conducted an on-site inspection and exchange visit to Hongzun Technology, a subsidiary of GNMI. Those present were Junhong Chu, Professor of Marketing and Director of the EMBA Global Program of Business School of Hong Kong University; Xu Jingyang and Huang Haibin, Director and Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Affairs of Business School of Hong Kong University; and Yin Jiafang, Senior Manager of the Asian Case Research Center of Business School of Hong Kong University.

Cai Hongbin and his delegation visited the company’s exhibition hall and production site, where they listened to an introduction on Global New Material International’s development history, industrial layout, technology research and development, product applications, and global market expansion. They focused particularly on the construction progress and industrialization status of Hongzun Technology’s Tonglu site for producing 100,000 tons annually of synthetic mica. As a key platform for Global New Material International’s synthetic mica production, Hongzun Technology is accelerating technological iteration, large-scale manufacturing, and market application, further strengthening the group’s industrial foundation in the new materials sector.

At the meeting, Su Ertian, representing Global New Material International and Hongzun Technology, warmly welcomed the visit of Cai Hongbin and his delegation. He stated that the delegation’s special visit to the front lines to meet with the company team and gain firsthand insights into project progress not only demonstrated their care for the enterprise but also created a valuable opportunity for in-depth dialogue between both sides.

Su Ertian introduced that Global New Material International has long been deeply engaged in the new materials industry and is currently advancing its global expansion and industrial synergy. Hongzun Technology is at a critical stage of technological and business expansion. The Faculty of Business School of Hong Kong University has accumulated extensive expertise in economic research, industry case studies, corporate governance, and talent development. He expressed the hope that the faculty would provide insights and recommendations for the company on macroeconomic trends, industry developments, business models, corporate governance, and talent cultivation, helping Hongzun Technology clarify its development strategy and address practical challenges.

During the exchange, Cai Hongbin and members from the HKU Business School engaged in in-depth discussions with the company’s team on topics including new materials industry development, global business operations, organizational governance, business model optimization, and high-end talent cultivation, based on their on-site observations and the company’s current stage of development. They also provided targeted recommendations. Both sides exchanged views on potential collaboration in industry case development, talent exchange, and university-enterprise cooperation.

This visit continued the close ties between the HKU Business School, the East China Alumni Association, and alumni enterprises. On December 2025, the HKU Business School East China Alumni Association was established in Shanghai, with Su Ertian elected as its first president, and Dean Cai Hongbin personally presenting the association flag. The visit by the school and alumni affairs team to the frontlines of alumni enterprises was a heartwarming outreach and a practical exchange grounded in real-world industry settings.

Su Ertian expressed that this visit would mark a new starting point for closer integration between the college’s research strengths, international perspective, and talent resources with corporate industry practices, leading to more practical outcomes in case studies, talent development, and enterprise internationalization, thereby providing fresh insights and practices for the high-quality development of China’s new materials enterprises.
